Positions/Platforms

I’m fighting to preserve our community’s way of life, our ability to provide for our families, and our morals and values. Let me try and tackle some of the big issues affecting us all! Vote June 11, Dale Holloway.

Dealing with the explosive growth:

As most of you have noticed we have had an explosion of growth in Pickens County over the past few years. While on the campaign trail individuals have expressed their concerns to me on multiple occasions. It appears that growth in Pickens County continually outpaces the ability of our essential services such as roads, sewer, police, fire departments, schools, etc. If elected to the County council, I will look at developing reasonable checks and balances that would help to alleviate some of these issues. I hope that we can pass on to our children and grandchildren who choose to live in this County, the opportunity to thrive and enjoy all the wonderful things that we have enjoyed and have been blessed with.

Tax rates:

I believe in setting a realistic budget for the County and having the discipline to work within that budget. In 2021 we saw one of the highest tax increases in the history of Pickens County. It is my position that any tax increase should be treated as a last resort instead of the first choice. We are living in difficult times economically, especially with the inflationary pressures that are all around us. I do not believe that it is a good thing to place any extra burden on the citizens of Pickens County through excessive taxation!

Emergency Services:

Presently in some areas of the county there is a shortfall in the EMS capability due to the call volume. This potentially could lead to a longer response time in each emergency. Also, several of our ambulances have over 150 thousand miles on them. I would like to work with the EMS, police, and firefighters to make sure they have adequate equipment and training to handle any situation that may arise in Pickens County. We have all heard the warnings coming out of the FBI, as well as, seen some of the potential dangers in this county. I will do all that I can to keep the citizens of Pickens County safe.
